Cleanup Day A Great Success Thanks!

It was great to see the enthusiastic clean up of the estate last weekend. From early morning people were out with shovels, bin bags, pickers and the big desire to get in at every bit of rubbish that has been dropped on, blown into or just showed up under hedges, behind walls and along our road ways. The Committee extends a great thanks to each and everyone of you and in particular to some of the younger participants whose hard work and good cheer inspired us all. Thanks also to the South Dublin County Council who came along a few days later and took away without charge the sum of all our hard work (the bagged junk) which we had deposited by the pathway leading out onto the Green Route.

A suggestion made on the day by our trusty treasurer was that we could arrange another outing specifically targeted at tidying up the landscaping of the area. I think that is a brilliant idea and now that most of the tins, bottles and rubbish has been lifted maybe we could aim to do this when we get a little closer to the Summer.

Just as an aside we still don't have a firm date as to when the re-instatement of the green areas (after the the completion of the pipe laying). When we have more we'll let you know.

Brand Spanking New Web Site (Nearly)

Well its here at last. I have had an under construction sign up there for ages and at finally I have had the deceny to unveil this refreshed entity. To be honest its still kind of under construction (for instance you cannot as yet email us or post a comment) and my colour theory is not the strongest so I am not sure if this looks OK or what. Really its the boring bits I like but I'll keep those to myself and just point out that the committee is using the free package Joomla for content management. Its not for the feint hearted to start but once you get used to its quirks it can do some pretty tasty things (Like changing the site template (its look and feel) at the click of button. Throughout the 2009/2010 Committee term we hope to add more useful aspects to the site (as well as tidy up a few Rough edges -why for you instance you may ask is there an empty box with Main Menu in the left Column??). We already have the RSS feed coming in from the South Dublin County Council and I think it would be nice if we had a dedicated planning section which would focus on applications in and around Boden. Any thoughts you have about what sort of content you would find useful please don't hestitate to contact us (in person or once its operational via email). We'll definitley consider it.
